Silly Jordan

I just had to put these pictures on here because one day.....they will be great to look back and laugh about!

The other day we were just hanging out...I think it was Sunday after church. Anyway, I was changing in my bedroom when suddenly I looked up to see Senior Jordan in my room! The last time we went to Mexico I saw this Lakers Pancho and knew Jordan HAD to have it!!! He put that on...found a sombrero in our party decorations and was all set!!!

Mady was quick to pose with her little Spanish friend! Oh...what would we do without our kids and their amusing personalities right? :)

One more angel in Heaven

A sad time for our family as Grandpa Schultz (Mike's Grandfather) returns to be with our Father in Heaven. He has fought a long battle with Lymphoma and is now at peace. He was one of the neatest men I have ever known and I feel blessed to have known him. We will miss his bright smile and his great wisdom. The kids will miss Grandpa's tractor rides and feeding the cattle. We love you Grandpa!!!

Ronald William Schultz

1934 - 2009

Ronald William Schultz, 74, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at home, firm in the faith of Christ, surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren. His passing was the culmination of a battle with cancer, which began in 2008.

Ronald was born October 24, 1934, the son of William Carl Schultz and Elva Rawson. Ron learned how to work hard by helping his father with the family farm. He had the privilege of growing up with his future wife Joan Hadley while attending grade school in Hooper and Weber High school. After high school, Ronald married Joan on May 14, 1953 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They have lived in Kanesville (West Haven) almost all of their lives. Ronald worked as a Logistics officer at Hill Air Force Base while raising children and Charolais cattle. Ronald made sure his family learned how to garden, drive tractors, trucks, and haul hay. He also made sure they had a good time. Their yearly fishing trips to Yellowstone and vacations to Bear Lake are the source of many fond memories.

Ron was active in community life. He refereed high school sports and enjoyed watching his own sons play. He served diligently for years in the Boy Scouts of America where he received the Silver Beaver Award. He was a registered Scout for the past 62 years. He served on the Farm Bureau Hooper Tomato Days Committee. Ronald was instrumental in creating the City of West Haven and served for 18 years on the City Council, even attending his last meeting on January 7, 2009.

One of his greatest pleasures was singing, entertaining and traveling with “The 4R’s” for the past 49 years. They were his “brothers.” Outside his family, Ronald’s greatest service was in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as Bishop, High Councilor, High Priests Group Leader, Young Men’s President and Scout Master. His latest calling was that of Branch President for the Peach Tree Assisted Living Center and a temple worker at the Ogden Temple.

Brayden's holiday trip to the hospital!

This year we celebrated New Years a little different than we would have liked. On Christmas Brayden came down with a cold. After a few days his cold really aggravated his asthma until he was unable to breath well on his own. He also sounded like an angry bear whenever he would breathe in or out. On Dec. 30th, a couple days of trying to treat him at home with numerous breathing treatments, mom finally threw in the towel and decided to take him to insta-care. At insta-care they quickly gave him a "super-nebulizer treatment". For those of you who are unfamiliar with asthma a super neb is basically 3 breathing treatments in one with an extra medicine in it as well. They also gave him 40 mg of steroids. After that he was still not breathing very well so they decided he needed to be admitted.

We took a ride to Primary Children's Hospital where after a VERY long ER visit they admitted him for round the clock treatments. New Year's Eve we were able to take him home. That night he started all over again. We were giving him treatments every hour and they didn't seem to be helping. On the second day I decided it wasn't going to work to keep him home and we went back to the hospital. This time we were there for 2 nights because his blood pressure was sky high, he was dizzy and had a horrible headache. Finally after the 2nd night...he made a quick recovery and his breathing was totally better!!! We were able to go home and he has been doing great!

Our last day there was a Sunday and since he was feeling better we decided to attend sacrament meeting at the hospital. An elder came to our room and invited us to go. It happened to be fast Sunday and so it was one of the most spiritual meetings I have ever attended. To look around the room and see all of these terminally ill children and their families, it was heartbreaking. It was a humbling experience for me. I had spent 3 nights in the hospital with my son for asthma. I was tired. Imagine how I felt when these amazing parents stood up talking about the 6 weeks they had spent in the hospital with their child. Not a single negative word was spoken. only words of gratitude for all of the blessings they had been given. The tiny miracles of each and every day they still had with their beloved children. I was definitely put in my place that day. I was overcome with the spirit of the savior and the outpouring he has for each and every one of his children. I had a change of heart and realized all of the many things the lord has blessed me with and I am very thankful.

Madyson's Birthday Weekend

On January 9th Madyson celebrated her 7th Birthday. I can't believe how fast the years go by. It does seem like just yesterday I was elated as they placed my baby girl in my arms for the first time. The joy I felt in those first days has grown and deepened these past 7 years. From firsts to tears to giggles I have enjoyed each day. (well...most of them anyway)

For Mady's birthday she wanted to go to dinner at Village Inn (or Bill Jim as she used to call it). Friday night Matt was with the boys at the Utah Jazz autograph party so we made it a girls night! Jessica, Makayla, Sheri, Mady & I had a great time giggling and partying at good ol' Village Inn. Mady can't resist those "funny face" pancakes.

After dinner we came back to our house to open presents and have some birthday cake. Woo hoo for Disney Sing It!!! We will be spending some hours making every dog in the neighborhood crazy! I apologize to all of my neighbors right now for the noise! ;)

Mady loves to open presents! We just need to teach her not to be so slow about it. She opens each one as if it were fine china! We had to keep telling her to just rip into it!

Mady and Matt were silly! When I have the two of them together it always takes a few pictures to get one that I can use because they are always goofing off.

In this one he is tickling her....before that though it was a very nice picture of both of them! ;)

Brayden helping Mady open her presents. He is such a good big brother!

Hopefully this summer she can learn to play golf with her new clubs! If not...I guess they will come in handy when she gets mad at her brothers right? ;)

Make a wish and blow out the candles!!!!
SATURDAY:

On Saturday we had a birthday party at Chuck E Cheese! The kids had a wonderful time playing all the games and dancing on the big cameras.

Making a music video...Party like a rock star!!!

Jordan, Mady & Braker

Here is Mady's adorable cake. I got it from Winegars and I thought it was a really cute idea. It was the "shopping diva" cake. I don't think I could have captured little Miss Mady better! She loved it!
She love it soo much that she decided to put her face in it!
Now she has cake up her nose! Mom second guesses the black frosting that she is now cleaning out of Mady's nose! ;)

CHEEEEEEEZZZZZE!!!!!

The girls are on a bumpy ride. The best thing about this picture is that I had the girls get in the car to pose for this picture and little did anyone know, Mady decided to put a coin in. Next thing they knew they were being bucked all over the place. It was all giggles & squeals for this picture!

Jordan and Braker got a bunch of tickets playing games. Braker was so excited to go spend his tickets on toys!

Present time again! Mady got lots of cool presents. One was this webkinz dog from G-ma & pa Kite. Mady loves webkinz. She got another one from Rich, Andrea & Evan!!!

At one point they did a show just for Mady! They did a big birthday song and a parade around the place. All eyes were on the birthday girl and she loved every minute of it!

Matt got all the girls together and they danced for the cameras! I know they say this is the place where a kid can be a kid but I am starting to think it might be where a grown up can act like a kid! Matt and Rich were the ones we had to drag out of the arcades!

This is a fun video of the girls dancing with the mouse! Too bad Mady had to watch him the whole time, but it's still pretty cute! After all the dancing, cake and games we took a picture with the mouse which wasn't an easy task as a million kids kept walking into the shot!

Mady you are such a special girl. You brighten up our family and we would never be the same without you. I am so proud of you and the girl you have become. I hope you had a wonderful birthday! I love you!!!

Thank you!
