Silly Summer Nights

Matt had to go out of town this week for his summer sales meeting. I asked Shay to come and "babysit us" while he was gone. I figured it would be a fun time to get to know her a little better. One night we decided to roast marshmallows in the fire pit. I thought we could get it done without any trouble so I sent Brayden out to get the fire started while I gathered stuff for the s'mores. Well....one major problem...I had no marshmallows. Since it was already past our bedtime, we decided that hot dogs and starburst would do the trick. After roasting we laid on the trampoline looking at the stars and taking silly pictures.

Here is our foot circle picture

And then our star hands

This is our afraid picture

Who knew you could have so much fun staying home and playing in your backyard just being silly with your kids??? It was a fantastic night and I am sure the memory will last forever!

You just gotta love those warm summer nights!!!

Vegas Baby!

Every summer and fall Matt has to go out of town for the company summer sales meeting. This year the summer meeting was being held in Las Vegas at the Red Rock Resort. This year I decided to go with him for a little bit and make a vacation out of it. We asked our neighbors, the Bells, to go with us as well. The weather was perfect and the resort was AMAZING.

Here is the view of the pool from our hotel room.

And here is the view from my lounge chair by the pool! AAAAH this is the life!

This is the wonderful tub that has made me desire a TV above the bathtub at home. I am sure Matt is thrilled he brought me now. ;)

We were gone over Father's Day so this is the picture I took of Matt enjoying himself on that Sunday...I don't know if I will ever be able to top this Father's Day for him. We had a great trip and since I hate it so bad when he goes out of town, I am so glad that I was able to go and spend time with him before his meeting started.

As far as Vegas goes...I am still not in love with the place but I am getting better. Maybe one day I will like it...until then, I will continue living my sheltered boring Utard life! ;)

Shay's Sweet Sixteen

This week we got the chance to help Shay celebrate her sweet 16th birthday. We helped her decorate & set up and we also got to bring the fun cake. I got it from Parsons bakery in Bountiful and I think they did a fantastic job. The cake was perfect for her masquerade ball themed party. The cake decorator was certainly not the most friendly but in the end she delivered so I would probably use them again.

Here is Mady with Shay before the party started. She is kind of like Shay's pet leech and would not leave her side for even a minute.

Here is Shay with a couple of her gal pals all dressed up for the party.

Mady and Shay with the cake.

Shay's mom Rosy with the cake.

Shay with the two boys. Brayden got really into the whole dress up thing however, Jordan was NOT about to put his dress clothes on.

The last month of school, Brayden learned how to dance and he was thrilled to show Shay his new skills.

He also took Mady out for a spin on the dance floor. He's a pretty good brother dontcha think??? It's moments like these that give a mom those warm fuzzies that we all love! :)

Here she is about to blow out her candles and make a wish. I am sure it has something to do with boys but we'll pretend she is wishing for world peace or something great like that! ;) I think she had a great time and I'm so glad for the tender mercies of my father in heaven for letting me be a part of it.

Happy Sweet 16 Shay...we love you!!!

6th Grade Graduation

Makayla and Brayden graduated from 6th grade this year. I can't believe how fast the time goes. This year they had the same teacher, Mrs. Fulkerson. They both had a fantastic year and I think they are both pretty excited to go to junior high next year.

Here they are waiting for the graduation to start.

Here is Makayla and her really good friend Jerica.

For graduation they had a dance later in the day. To avoid the embarrassment of parents showing up to take pictures they decided to have the kids do their dances for the parents at the graduation.

Here is Brayden dancing his little heart out. He really enjoyed learning all the fun dances, especially slow dancing. :)

Makayla was a little bit camera shy and seemed to get as far away as possible from us. Brayden on the other hand, made sure he was front and center to show off his mad skills!

Here is Brayden, gum in his mouth and all, slow dancing. She's pretty tall! ;)
Here is the look of death from Makayla that says "You have got to be kidding me Dad". Ha Ha At least he wasn't as bad as the mom who was crouched down in the middle of the crowd taking pictures of them like it was a photoshoot for Vanity Fair or something!
At the end of the dance they had the kids get their parents out on the dance floor. Poor Makayla had to deal with her silly dad. While Brayden had to deal with my two left feet! (not sure which is worse)
Look how big they are!!!
The proud parent moment!

Good friends and good times. It's been a great year for these two and I am sure they will have just as much fun these next three years in Junior High. Watch out South Davis....Here they come!!!

Thank you!
